The Svāgata kick-off meeting, with all European and Indian partners and associated partners, will be held on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 November at Anna University in Chennai (India).
All partners will be introduced into the different facets of the project wich aims at sharing the knowledge and expertise available in the EU in disciplines and dimensions of higher education that are relatively neglected in India; training Indian students, researchers and staff in specific fields of study where India has identified acute needs and problems; creating greater mutual intercultural understanding between Europe and India; creating the conditions for sustainable networks of European and Indian higher education institutions and non-academic partners, and more generally, building a people-to-people relationship between European and Indian regions.

Anna University is a main partner of Svāgata and was established on 4th September 1978 as a unitary type of University. It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and allied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society.Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained therefrom, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities.The University was formed by bringing together and integrating two well-known technical institutions in the city of Madras.
